The Aboriginal Health Panel will aim to complement teaching provided by the Centre of Aboriginal Medical and Dental Health (CAMDH). It will be specifically designed for medical and allied health students and will comprise of an Introduction and Welcome to Country, followed by several guest speakers (TBD) focussing on the topic of 'Culturally Appropriate Communication in a Clinical Setting'.

Speakers will discuss and answer panel questions on a variety of areas including personal experiences in Indigenous health and a discussion of the inequities that exist in health outcomes between Indigenous and non-Indigenous people. We will explore the issue of systemic racism within the healthcare system and focus on what can be done to continue to encourage change and improve culturally safe and informed care, whilst educating students on communicating with Indigenous patients in a culturally appropriate manner. The event will conclude with audience questions. Catering and non-alcoholic drinks will be provided.
