A little bit about SOC
The Societies Council (SOC) encompasses all Guild-affiliated student-run clubs and societies on campus.
We have over 140 Guild-affiliated clubs at UWA which represent a huge range of interests, cultures, and faculties, and all of them are completely student-run. The Societies Council Committee is a group of elected students who work together to support clubs, manage tenancy leases, and host events such as Club Carnival. Societies Council General Meetings are held monthly from February to October each year, and attendance is mandatory for all SOC-affiliated clubs. Meetings often include updates on ongoing projects, speeches from guest speakers, and voting on affiliation of new clubs. Free food is provided before each meeting, including vegan and gluten free options, and attendees are encouraged to socialise and network with other student leaders.
At least one executive member from each SOC-affiliated club is required to attend each Societies Council General Meeting, with financial penalties applying for non-attendance. If no one from your club is able to attend, apologies must be sent to [email protected] no later than 5.00 pm the day before the meeting.
