Students at UWA should vote Yes to the Voice.
It's 2023 and Indigenous peoples in Australia still face systemic disadvantage and discrimination.
The organisations and politicians leading the campaign for a "No" vote to the Voice to Parliament are conservative and racist. These include politicians from the LNP Coalition and Pauline Hanson.
They are using the campaign against the Voice to revive utterly appalling racist tropes. This was made clear by Jacinta Price when she suggested that colonisation was good for Indigenous people in her recent remarks to the National Press Club.
This is terrible.
We need to fight racism. We need to close the gap. We need to vote Yes to the Voice to reject the racism propagated from influential organisations and politicians on the 'No' side of the campaign. But we also need so much more, including real structural change to stop the poverty, the deaths in custody, the police discrimination and more that Indigenous peoples face.
Join us at this campus rally to support the Yes Vote and reject the racism sprouting from the No campaign.
