NOMINATION PROCESS

The process for electing the 2021 ISD Committee has started!

IMPORTANT DATES
  • Nominations Open: 5:00pm Monday 12 October 2020
  • Nominations Close: 6:00pm Friday 16 October 2020
  • Details of nominees available: 12:00pm Monday 19 October 2020
  • Voting: 6:30pm Monday 19 October 2020 (at the ISD AGM)

The International Students’ Department will be having its Annual General Meeting on Monday, 19th October 2020, at 6.30pm at Alexander Lecture Theatre. Voting for the 2021 Committee will take place at the AGM.

This meeting will also require voting on amendments to the ISD Constitution to reflect the organisational and miscellaneous changes in ISD. The constitutional changes will be on display on this page shortly, and the agenda for the AGM will be posted 24 hours before the meeting.

Nominations are now open for the following positions:

  • Vice-President
  • General Secretary
  • Social Director
  • Welfare Director
  • Education Director
  • Public Relations Director
  • Social Officer
  • Welfare Officer
  • Education Officer
  • Liaison Officer
Information for Nominees

Nominations are to be submitted via email to Tony Goodman, the Returning Officer (RO) at [email protected]. Please include a screenshot of your studentConnect to verify that you are an international student.

Should you decide to nominate for more than 1 position, please indicate your preference when submitting your nominations, accordingly from highest preference to the lowest. Nominations close on Friday, 16th October 2020, 6PM.

If there is only one nominee for a position, that person is elected. If there are no nominations for a position and the position is left vacant at the close of Elections, it will remain vacant till a suitable candidate is presented to the ISD Committee. Elected representatives will be announced on ISD social media after the count has been completed.

All nominees must take note that there shall be no campaigning by or on behalf of the nominee through, including but not limited to, oral, written or social media platforms. According to the ISD Constitution, should a nominee be found to have breached this rule, the RO reserves the right to reject the nomination of the nominee.

Information for Voters

In order for you to be able to vote at the AGM on 19 October, you must be a currently enrolled UWA international student. 

 Please ensure that you bring along your student ID, and you must be able to verify that you are an international student through studentConnect. Only in-person voting will be allowed. No online voting or proxies are permitted. Please arrive by 6.15pm for registration. An official agenda will be released closer to the date.
