Trope Talks: Laws and Policing in Fiction

All communities or society have some sort of laws, and some method to police or enforce those laws, and that includes those communities and societies represented in Science-Fiction and Fantasy. Which leads to the question, what strange laws and creative law enforcement have been shown in media? How do these communities beliefs, ideals and environments shape their laws? How is justice represented, if it is valued at all? and how has fiction been used to critique actual law and policing?
