Just Wait!

We all wait. Everyday, we wait. I wait, you wait, Kuwait. But what are we waiting for? The bus, usually. Or for Aunty Shaz to tell us what she really thinks. Some of us wait to live, others wait to die, and most of us wait for something in between. We wait because it’s what we do best. In that sense, we’ve got a lot in common with Patricia.

She’s waiting too. In this dingy doctor’s office, with its horrid wallpaper and its stench of band-aids and big news. She hasn’t got an appointment. She’ll get one in 45 minutes. Don’t rush her. First, she’s got a story to tell.

There will be airports and water slides, radio stations and funeral parlours, queues and no thank yous, and maybe even a little bit of love.

All in good time. Just you wait.
