Why Islam Is True - Sheikh Hamza Karamali

Many Muslims today hold their faith more by habit than by conviction and when hard questions come, from a lecturer, a friend, or their own mind, they don't have the tools to answer them. This workshop is designed to change that.

Why Islam Is True is the flagship course of Basira Education, developed by Shaykh Hamza Karamali a scholar with engineering degrees from the University of Toronto and over twenty years of study in Islamic theology, logic, and legal theory under leading scholars across the Middle East. The course has been tested with PhDs and professional philosophers and is used in educational institutions internationally.

In this four-hour interactive workshop, Shaykh Hamza walks participants through the rational and philosophical case for Islam, not as a matter of cultural inheritance, but as a conclusion you can reach through careful reasoning. Drawing on the logical methods of the classical Islamic scholarly tradition, including theology, philosophy of religion, and the rational arguments found throughout the Quran, participants will engage directly with the questions that matter most: Does God exist, and how do we know? What is the basis for Islamic belief? How do we respond to the arguments of modern atheism and materialism?

This is not a passive lecture. Participants will work through structured exercises, reason through the arguments themselves, and leave with a clear, evidence-based framework they can articulate and build on.

Open to UWA students and the broader community. No prior background required.
