This site tour, run by the UWA Engineers Club (UEC), will take a group of first-year engineering students ("freshers") to visit the Tianqi Lithium Kwinana Plant — one of the world’s most advanced lithium hydroxide processing facilities. The tour will include a guided walkthrough of the plant’s operations, presentations from Tianqi engineers, and an overview of the site’s role in the global battery supply chain.
The purpose of the event is to provide first-year students with early exposure to real-world engineering applications, particularly in the chemical and process industries. It aims to:
Spark interest in industrial site operations and green energy technologies.
Complement academic learning with practical insight.
Promote engagement with industry and help students explore potential career paths.
Foster connections between freshers and the UWA Engineers Club community.
The event supports student development by linking university learning to real engineering challenges and innovations.
