We are proposing a large-scale Mid-Autumn Festival celebration event in collaboration with a few ASEAN clubs (Malaysian Cultural Society and Australia-China youth Association). The Mid-Autumn Festival is a significant cultural event for our members (predominantly Singaporean, Malaysian and those of Chinese background), and is a time of family reunion and appreciating the moon together (supposedly brightest and roundest on this day).
Our collaboration event aims to provide our members a sense of community, feeling “home away from home” as they come together to celebrate this day that would otherwise be spent with family and loved ones. This event will be open to all UWA students, bringing everyone together to celebrate and learn about the rich culture of the Mid-Autumn Festival which is something we hold dearly. The event will feature cultural performances (e.g. dance performance), a diverse range of traditional foods offerings/food trucks (e.g. mooncakes), and engaging booth/station activities (e.g. lantern making).
