HDR Festival

The HDR Festival is a three-day event designed to celebrate and support Higher Degree by Research (HDR) students at UWA. It brings together students, academics, and industry professionals to foster connections, offer professional development, and create an engaging and supportive community. The event is a collaboration between the Graduate Research School (GRS) and the Postgraduate Students' Association (PSA), featuring a mix of academic sessions, social activities, and industry networking opportunities.

  Day 1 (Tuesday, October 22nd):

  
  
  
  
  • 7:30 AM - 9:30 AM: "Get Industry, Get Connected" breakfast at Forrest Hall
  
  
  • 9:30 AM: Registration & Prize-Giving (Festival Gift Bags)
  
  
  • 10:00 AM - 11:30 AM: Official Opening (Speakers: VC, GRS Dean, PSA President) and keynote academic session, "Tiny Habits for HDR Success"
  
  
  • 12:00 PM: Lunch (Free Pizza & Soft Drinks)
  
  
  • 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM: Academic sessions on feedback, career planning, and a spotlight on women and non-binary researchers, as well as social events including "Dogs & Art Activities"
  
  
  • 5:30 PM - 7:30 PM: 3MT & VYT Winner Showcase and Festival Sundowner at UWA Tavern (Free Food)

  • 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM: A mix of academic sessions covering supervision best practices and AI in research, alongside social activities such as the HDR Olympics
  
  
  • 12:00 PM: Lunch (Free Sushi & Bubble Tea)
  
  
  • 3:00 PM - 4:00 PM: Social event "Race Around Campus"
