Empower and Educate

This hands-on event will focus on making bags using sustainably sourced, discarded materials provided by ReMida. By combining sewing skill development with a relaxed, social environment, participants can connect over their research, share experiences, and combat feelings of isolation. The workshop encourages casual conversation, peer bonding, and collaborative creativity—especially important for introverted students or those navigating the unique challenges of research degrees.

June is an ideal time to host this event, as many research students will have fewer academic demands and more flexibility due to scholarship-related work restrictions. This event will be engaging in a community of like-minded researchers and provide a positive outlet for skill-building and social connection.
