Over three-quarters of young Australians aged 16 - 25 years are concerned about climate change. But young people feel powerless, aren't taking action and generally have a negative future outlook. Two-thirds of young Australians say climate concerns are having a negative impact on their mental health.
Hence, the UWA Student Guild Environment Department is collaborating with UWA Marine Biology Club to present the film screening of 'Rising Up'.
A bit about the film:
In a world dealing with a changing climate and a degrading ocean, particularly impacting young people, 23-year-old young Australian changemaker and Take 3 For the Sea ambassador Kal Glanznig goes on a journey across the world to uncover the untold stories of hope and solutions to the climate and ocean plastic crisis. With a strong optimistic outlook, viewers will feel inspired and empowered by how they can rise up, conquer their internal doubts and take action.
After the film screening, the directors will present a workshop and Q&A panel to inspire participants to take action. Pure Pops will be providing free ice cream for everyone!
