Top healthy eats at UWA

Eating well is  essential for keeping your brain and body functioning at their best and getting those HDs! So here are a few of our top picks for nutritious (and delicious) meals at UWA:

Who says you don’t make friends with salad? Even when all your mates want to head to the Tavern, don’t worry, you’re not limited to sweet potato fries to help you get your daily 2 + 5. There’s a different salad featured on the menu each week so you’ll never get bored! Over in Hackett Café you can also mix and match delicious salad flavours for just $6.50. Or, grab and go with the pre-packed salads at Quobba Gnarning.

Build your own breakfast

Don’t sit through that 9am lecture with your stomach rumbling! Head to Catalyst Café in the Barry J Marshall Library where you can create your own combo of yogurt, fruits and muesli from the breakfast bar to get off to a good start to the day.

Poké bowls

These wholesome Hawaiian meals have been making waves ever since hitting Aussie shores, and now you can enjoy them right here on campus. You’ll find beautiful bowls packed with rice, greens and various kinds of fish (or chicken or tofu) in Hackett and Quobba Gnarning Cafes. (And so you don’t have to ask… it’s pronounced po-kay.)

Protein products

If you’re hitting the gym on campus, Hackett’s got you covered for post-workout snacks with a range of protein bars, shakes and snacks like raw nuts. Pop in to refuel.

Stir fries

In Village Café you’ll always find freshly cooked stir fries packed full of veg (with various meat and vegetarian options to choose from). They’re a good way to get your greens in a deeeeelicious form.

Brekkie smoothies

Is there any easier breakfast on the go than a tasty smoothie? Pick one up at Hackett Café or Boost Juice. (If you’ve got a little more time, we suggest dining in at Hackett with one of the many bargain breakfast options. Go for whole grain or gluten-free toast with poached eggs and add on some avo or smoked salmon!)

Raw desserts

We firmly believe that desserts are an essential part of any diet, so couldn’t wrap up this post without mentioning the amazing  raw desserts you’ll find in Quobba Gnarning’s dessert cabinet – from  bliss  balls to brownies, all  free from dairy, gluten and refined sugars. Treat yo’self!
