Six reasons to check out the UWA Nedlands Café

With a bunch of great eateries up Hampden Road and down Broadway, it’s easy to overlook the little-known Guild-run café tucked away on the UWA Nedlands Campus. But if you’re based on that campus for work, study or research and haven’t popped in for a while, we reckon it’s about time you do! Here’s why:

1. New beans, new machines, new baristas = a great cup of coffee

We’ve recently started serving Caffé Aurora Rainforest blend coffee beans (a medium-dark roast of 100% Arabica beans that delivers a delicately balanced espresso and a smooth and silky finish with milk).

At the same time, we brought in new top-of-the-line espresso machines and got all the staff trained up to make beautiful brews every time.

And we now offer a range of alternative milks (soy, almond, coconut and lactose-free) so you can have your coffee just the way you like it!

2. Half price muffins. Enough said.

Morning tea is sorted with our great value deal: get any muffin for half price when you purchase a large coffee. This offer is available EVERY DAY, exclusive to Nedlands Café (what a win for EDFAA students – take that, main campus)!

3. Cheapest coffee around.

With up to 25% off for Guild members, plus a 30c discount when you bring your own cup, you can get your caffeine hit for as little as $2.10.

4. Check out the revamp and chill inside or out.

We’ve brightened the place up a bit lately with a fresh coat of paint, lively décor and even a community bookshelf. Goodbye drab cafeteria, hello chillout space! There’s also plenty of shady lawn just outside where you can enjoy the return of springtime.

5. As a Guild-run café, it benefits students.

Nedlands Café is run by us at the UWA Student Guild, meaning:
a) Food and drinks are subsidised for Guild members to provide affordable options
b) Any profits go straight back into support services and activities for students
c) We can respond to students’ needs, such as extending hours or offering special meals during stress-filled portfolio weeks!

6. Meet Imogen!

Our awesome new supervisor/barista at Nedlands Café, Imogen, is quite possibly the friendliest person in Perth (big call, we know)! She has over 8 years’ barista experience and some amazing latte art skills which you might get to see at quiet times. Come say hi and you’ll soon be on a first name basis.
