Mental Health

The Health Promotion Unit runs a number of initiatives throughout the year to help students stay mentally healthy.

The Health Promotion Unit also has two Mental Health Nurses, an Alcohol and Drugs Officer, and a fully operational GP clinic. Visit the UWA Medical Centre website for more information or call 6488 2118 to make an appointment.

Here at Student Assist we also take part in a yearly event run by the Health Promotion Unit – Mental Health Week – where a number of local organisations come to UWA to showcase the services they offer to students. Come join us on Oak Lawn for a tea and a chat about what we have to offer.

Uni Access UWA

UniAccess is another service that UWA offer free to students. It is a service where students can disclose a disability or illness and request assistance.

When appropriate they can:

  • arrange for support, including accessible course materials and special consideration, to help you maximise your academic potential
  • give advice on individual disability related matters
  • facilitate physical access to the campus and its buildings as well as equipment and technology.
  • provide library support and facilities
  • liaise with departments and faculties on your behalf
  • make alternative arrangements for examinations
  • advise on what to do if you are dissatisfied with a decision and want to appeal or have a grievance
  • provide assistance and alternative admission pathways for prospective students.

Please visit the UniAccess website for further information on this successful service or contact Student Support Services on 6488 2423.

Mental Health Directory

The Mental Health Directory was developed by the UWA Student Guild Welfare Department to help students find relevant mental health services at UWA and beyond. Check it out!
