THE PSA ELECTIONS FOR THE 2018 COMMITTEE ARE CURRENTLY IN PROGRESS, PLEASE VIEW THE ELECTIONS PAGE TO NOMINATE FOR THE PSA COMMITTEE

So you want to join the PSA Committee? Good decision! Being a member of the PSA Committee is a great opportunity to develop event management, time management, interpersonal and other generic skills. Being on the PSA Committee is incredibly rewarding, but it is also a commitment you make to yourself, the members of the Association, the University, and to the other members of the Committee.

Positions run from the 1st of December to the 1st of December the following year. While you may need to take time for conferences, writing sabbaticals, personal time, exams, you should plan to be an active member of the committee for the majority of the year.

On average, committee members should be prepared to give 5-6 hours per week to their PSA Committee duties (most weeks this will be less, however, leading up to events it may be more). The PSA President must be prepared to dedicate approximately 25 hours per week to preparation and coordination.

The PSA needs to be available to provide support and representation to students, and to liaise with the university, Guild, and postgrads. You should be prepared to give some time to getting to know students and staff in your focus area.

There is a wide variety of events and services the PSA delivers, which cannot be completed without the support of the Committee. These include the Quiz Night, Cocktail Party and Family Day. There are also events such as O’Day, the Postgrad Welcome and UWA Postgrad and Honours Expo for which the PSA staffs stalls and spruiks our good work.

There are several positions still available for the 2016 PSA Committee. Please click on each position title if you are interested in nominating yourself for a position. According to the PSA Election Regulations, as these positions were not filled at our Annual General Meeting, the process outlined below needs to occur for nominees to become part of the PSA Committee

Once a suitable candidate presents themselves to fill an open position, the Committee will post notice of the nomination on the PSA website, in the PSA newsletter and via social media. This notice will remain open for comment for 7 days. If the candidate is deemed suitable and no alternative candidates come forward during this period then they will assume the role they have nominated for.

The positions which are still currently available for 2017 are:
