Postgraduate Students' Association

Teaching

Many postgraduates take up casual teaching positions while they are completing their degree. Casual teaching is a great opportunity to get experience in an area other than studying/research, and provides additional cash in your pocket.

UWA is focused on improving the quality of teaching for undergraduates. All teachers, permanent and casual, are therefore encouraged to undertake teaching training. There are three primary mechanisms for postgraduates to access teaching training. Please be aware that relevant training is available through your Faculty, School and through the Centre for Education Futures.

Sessional Staff Association

Opportunities for professional development for postgraduate casual teachers are currently in review. The Sessional Staff Association is a newly-formed group of postgraduates passionate about ensuring that UWA sessional staff are given opportunities for professional development and have a voice on committees. To find out more head to their website.
